Derby Sameday Couriers was set up in 2009, when the recession started to affect the way we were doing business through Cocoon. Having previous experience in this logistics field, I knew the basis of what we needed.
My first port of call was to contact the insurance company to add Goods in Transit insurance, the cost of this was minimal. The next was easy, a vehicle. Luckily having Cocoon Vehicles helped me quite a bit! Nice shiny Renault Trafic.
I started by purchasing a lot of relevant domain names. As we wanted the deliveries to originate in the Derby area, it made sense to register derby-couriers.co.uk as a domain name. The site went live and we put a few google adverts against it.
Luckily, our customer based increase very quickly. Adding companies such as Geldards, Rolls Royce and Avian Forwarding. We also made the mistake of accepting a few house move jobs. These were hard work and if you worked out the man power and the time spent on them, we were at a loss.
