Balloonatics of Derby started when a colleague and me left a Balloon and Party shop in the Derby area. We both really enjoyed the Balloon Decorating side, so Balloonatics was born.
We started by advertising at a few of the local wedding fayres and by investing in some leaflets. We built up quite a diary in the first few years, completing some fantastic jobs, we had regular work at the Makeney Hall due to my friend Helen Fairey who was Wedding Co-ordinator at that time.
After year for we did start to go quiet, and Gary wanted to take a back step. I discussed the company with Sam and we were considering shelving it. Helium Gas Bottle rental made it look as though we were at a loss.
I received a phone call from Kim Fletcher from Event Heydays in the December of 2008, mentioning about the Wedding Professionals Network. She explained the costs and the benefits, and I looked in what I was actually paying Yell in advertising.
I decided to stop my campaign with Yell, and spend the £1000 per year on getting new leaflets done to go along side my Wedding Professionals Network. Year one with my membership and I had made 5 times as much as I had without it, and I had met some great friends within the WPN network.
Balloonatics has since grown, especially since the introduction of the Derby Wedding Showroom. We now have a fully functioning E-Commerce website and also offer Helium Gas Sales in the Derby area, being one of the biggest suppliers of helium now in the region.
